At the Workshop

Sensory play
blindfolded material explorations

As part of the sensory play exercise, students engaged with materials from the collective material pool through touch, sound, and smell, further exploring them through a series of guided prompts.

  1. What does the material feel and sound like?

  2. How do you think this material would age in 20 and 50 years?

  3. Through a visual map or a short story, narrate the material’s imagined or known history - tracing the material journey.

Thinking New Material Archetypes

Guided by the seven different material archetypes outlined by Linda Weintraub in ‘What's Next? Eco-Materialism and Contemporary Art’, students were further prompted to reimagine new material archetypes by repurposing materials to prototype new forms and possibilities.
